5/16/2023 0 Comments Amazon kindle fire support number![]() On the surface it's good news that the Fire Phone runs Android. ![]() Right now, it isn't.ģ: Better Lifestyle Compatibility And Utility In needs to be worth every cent of the $450 SIM-free price. To get perceived parity with the current leading names, it needs to be better, faster, and smoother than devices like the Galaxy S5 and the iPhone 6. Amazon needs to work much harder to make the Fire Phone best in class when compared to other devices. There's no point being cheap if you don't get something that is usable. I’m a seasoned tech journalist, and the Fire Phone UI makes very little sense to me. Apple’s iPhone is popular because everyone who picks one up can cope with the interface. This is a real problem, because if people are put off by how the phone behaves you’ll never sell any. The user interface on the Fire Phone, like the Fire Tablets, is a bloody mess. Reviews picked out the poor voice call quality, the under performing camera, and the poor user interface. But the handset never fulfilled the promise of being a good handset. Subsidising the handsets Amazon could not go any lower the 99 cents in the US, and bundling the handset with a year of Amazon Prime membership made the financial side of the equation look attractive. Amazon needs to take in new territories and have them available at launch (or in a handful of weeks after launch). The world is connected, and smartphone fans outside the US looking at the Fire Phone should have been potential customers. There needs to be support from all the US networks. And it shouldn't just stop at the US. Selling in volume is about reducing barriers and while an exclusive deal might help defray some advertising or manufacturing costs, I doubt AT&T paid out $170 million to Amazon. ![]() Not only did you have to want a Fire Phone, you had to want to join AT&T, renew with the network, or break a contract to move over. Putting aside the SIM-free option, restricting the first handset to AT&T severely limited the appeal of the handset. ![]() I've no reason to doubt Bezos' continued iterations to get it right, so there are three major areas that will need to be addressed in the second Fire Phone for it to have any hope of being accepted. This isn't just a difficult second album, this handset will have a huge amount of negative baggage to overcome. When the Fire Phone 2 arrives, it's going to have the same market share as the Kindle Fire, but it's going to have a lot more suspicious and wary consumers looking over it. Amazon had not built up a strong smartphone presence before releasing the Fire Phone, so it never had a high market share to lose. The cliff theory shows that once confidence is gone, support for manufacturers drops quickly and rapidly, with little hope of recover. Nokia, Palm, Ericsson, Siemens, Phillips, and many more have succumbed to this, and Samsung appears to be approaching that moment. The quality of the Fire Pone has rapidly spent that goodwill with little return.įor a modern smartphone manufacturer, the loss of market share can be catastrophically fast. Customer goodwill takes a long time to build up, and Amazon's initial adventures with the Kindle eBook reader, followed by the Kindle Fire tablets, spent years building up trust in Amazon. Yet Bezos' is continuing with the Fire Phone project, and expects "it to take several iterations" before the project can be judged a success or not ( reports Re/Code). ![]()
